A traditional Village Pub & Kitchen in the heart of Hornton, North Oxfordshire. Comfortable, relaxed, welcoming and informal, we offer a range of cask ales, lagers, ciders and a carefully chosen wine list, most of which are available by the glass.

Been walking or gardening all morning? Just leave your boots by the door and warm your feet by the fire. What about the kids? We think that they should be welcomed, not just tolerated.

Just want a quiet drink, not a three course meal? Well, that’s fine by us but we do also serve unique and outstanding food. We buy superb ingredients directly from farmers & producers (mostly within a 30 mile radius of the pub) and we cook them in a way that lets their freshness and quality shine through. We’re also serious about seasonality and our menus are completely changed every month to reflect all that is freshest and at its best right now.

September’s main dishes feature a mixture of world favourites and English classics. From Chile, we have “Tomatican”, a stew of pork, tomatoes and corn on the cob.

From Cornwall, we have monkfish. From Italy, we have Chicken with Bay Leaves and from Hornton, we have a traditional Shepherd’s Pie, in which both the mutton and potatoes were raised just a short walk from your table.

The puddings include a new Dun Cow Ice Cream – our own Pistachio –  and a Plum and Limoncello Tart

Charity Quiz Night – new season begins…

Returning after the Summer break, our next Charity Quiz Night will be on Wednesday the 7th of September at 8:30. All entrance money (£2 per person) plus 10% of the bar takings will go to support Banbury and District Samaritans

A Real Sunday Roast

Ever been disappointed by a roast Sunday lunch in a pub? So have we, that’s why we refused to do the “usual pub roast” at The Dun Cow.

Instead, we cook Sunday Roasts for just for you and three (or more) family and friends. We cook the meat you choose, we don’t compromise on the ingredients and it’s all yours. We even parcel up the left overs for you to enjoy at home.

Just tell us by noon on Friday what you’d like from our Family Roast Menu and it’ll all be waiting for you at the time you choose on Sunday.
