A traditional Village Pub & Kitchen in the heart of Hornton, North Oxfordshire. Comfortable, relaxed, welcoming and informal, we offer a range of cask ales, lagers, ciders and a carefully chosen wine list, most of which are available by the glass.

Been walking or gardening all morning? Just leave your boots by the door and warm your feet by the fire. What about the kids? We think that they should be welcomed, not just tolerated.

Just want a quiet drink, not a three course meal? Well, that’s fine by us but we do also serve unique and outstanding food. We buy superb ingredients directly from farmers & producers (mostly within a 30 mile radius of the pub) and we cook them in a way that lets their freshness and quality shine through. We’re also serious about seasonality and our menus are completely changed every month to reflect all that is freshest and at its best right now.

March’s menu includes our own Duck Confit with Mustard & Bacon Beans ideal for the cold, bright and windy days of early spring.

Those looking for some spice should try our Goan Vegetable Curry while those looking for rib-sticking comfort food might like our Steak & Stilton Pie or some excellent, local Pork Chops

For pudding, we’ll see the return of two popular favourites, one very French – Moelleux au Chocolat and one very British – Treacle Tart. We also have one of our unique ice creams – Rhubarb Crumble

Charity Quiz Night 

Our next Charity Quiz Night will be on Wednesday the 5th of April at 8:30. All entrance money (£2 per person) plus 10% of the bar takings will go to support the Horton Hospital Fighting Fund

A Real Sunday Roast

Ever been disappointed by a roast Sunday lunch in a pub? So have we, that’s why we refused to do the “usual pub roast” at The Dun Cow.

Instead, we cook Sunday Roasts for just for you and three (or more) family and friends. We cook the meat you choose, we don’t compromise on the ingredients and it’s all yours. We even parcel up the left overs for you to enjoy at home.

Just tell us by noon on Friday what you’d like from our Family Roast Menu and it’ll all be waiting for you at the time you choose on Sunday.
