Walks around Hornton

There’s nothing like a walk to build an appetite for our food. The Dun Cow is very short detour from the D’Arcy Dalton Way, a 65 mile national trail that runs from the Ironstone of Banbury to Waylands Smithy, near White Horse Hill on the ancient Ridgeway.

For the less ambitious, there are many shorter walks and two favourites are the Horley Village Walk and circular trail, a 4.25 mile walk which takes you through Hornton at its halfway point, making The Dun Cow an ideal stop.

Also, Christopher Somerville’s excellent blog describes a great 10 mile route from the historic village of Edge Hill to Hornton. Unfortunately, when this piece was written The Dun Cow was not open for lunch but anyone taking this route today would find us the ideal place for a break.

If you have reserved a table for a meal, you would be very welcome to leave your car in our car park and begin and end your walk in Hornton.
